Liesbet Nyssen

Born 1963 in Moresnet, Belgium. She studied musicology at Amsterdam University and first specialized in medieval music. From 1995 onwards Liesbet Nyssen has been researching musics from South-Siberia. She is currently writing her PhD on the contemporary music of the Khakas, at the Research School CNWS, Leiden University. As an affiliated fellow of IIAS, Amsterdam Branch, she is also working on an anthropological project with Siberian Universities.
