A Chinese Perspective for Cyberspace?

By Jan Krikke

Fig. 1
Illustration of William Farish's isometrical perspective. In CAD and multimedia authoring systems, isometry is a standard feature. Note that the height, width, and length of the cube are rendered 'in equal measures'. The cube can easily be measured, scaled, rotated and otherwise manupulated by using algorithms. The distinction between isometry and axonometry hinges on its angle of projection, and the manner of foreshortening. However, definitions of axonometry and isometry are not uniform.
